This World Coffee Day, Londoners can swap out plastic for prose and claim 241 coffee at 10 locations across the city from Soho to Stratford. In a bid to encourage Londoners to minimise their screen time and invest time IRL with friends, the Meet With A Poem initiative from coffee roasters Julius Meinl and singer-songwriter JP Cooper hopes to educate people on the power of real world conversation to harbour more meaningful relationships.
The idea is simple. Those who visit coffee shops across London from Balans in Soho to Forge & Co Liverpool Street can claim a 2-for-1 coffee in exchange for a poem written with their friend about how they met.
World Coffee Day, October 1st
HOW IT WORKS:
Each friendship has its own, distinctive poetry, which you both know by heart. On World Coffee Day, put that poetry in writing, together, and your verses could be turned into the unique song of your friendship.
Each write a couple of verses about your friendship on the same MEET WITH A POEM paper sheet. Use the poem to get two cups of coffee or tea for the price of one. Take a photo of your poem, submit it to meinlcoffee.com on October 1st 2018 and get a chance to have your verses turned into a real song. More detail here.
