Everyone is familiar with the archetypal story of the individual who is pushed into a line of work they hate, by their parents, because it “pays well.” On a similar note, there’s the story of the individual who pursues a particular career path of their own accord, for the financial gain it promises, only to be disappointed down the line.
People can grow to enjoy, and take pride in, a wide array of different jobs. There isn’t necessarily one “perfect” path for you to follow.
That being said, if you have something in your life that you’re passionate about, whether that’s Architectural Practice, or art, dedicating yourself fully to your passion may actually be a robust path to financial well-being.
Here are a few reasons why.
Because hard work and consistency are a major part of the formula for professional, and financial success
In order to achieve great things in your professional life, and in order to come to a position in your financial life where you are “set” and have plenty of savings in the bank, you will almost always need to put in a lot of hard work, consistently, over a prolonged period of time.
Hard work and consistency are a major part of the formula for professional and financial success, and both of these things are easier to manage when you are motivated by something that you feel passionately about.
When you’re doing work that you hate, and don’t see the greater meaning in, it’s going to be a lot more difficult for you to push through the hard times, and stay the course.
Because when you’re passionate about something, you are likely to be a lot more authentic when pursuing it
Authenticity is one of the things that people tend to respond to extremely well, in the business world, and in life in general.
It’s often pretty easy to spot who is not authentically enthusiastic about the product or service they are selling, and are just trying to spin you a line.
By the same token, when you meet someone who really cares about what it is they do, it’s often easy to sense that from a mile off.
When you’re authentic, and passionate, about what it is you do, you will likely be a lot more effective at getting your clients and customers to feel that same sense of passion and enthusiasm.
Because when you’re spending your time working on something you’re passionate about, you won’t be trading life satisfaction for money
We all need money to live, but you should by no means find yourself in a prolonged situation where you are continually trading away life satisfaction, in exchange for wealth and financial security.
When you spend your time working on something that you’re passionate about, the hard work will justify itself, and be its own reward. You won’t have the same sense that you are living a hollow life, just to make ends meet.
Of course, it’s unlikely that you’ll just be able to drop everything that you might be doing at the moment, in order to work your dream job starting tomorrow. But you can certainly make a plan today, and start moving your life closer towards your dream ideal.
